    • The traditional injection molding method costs €8200, which includes the cost of creating the mold.

      • For traditional injection molding, the process takes 40 days for production, plus an additional 70 days to produce the mold.
      • In contrast, 3D printing takes just 10 days.

In summary, 3D printing is shown to be significantly cheaper and faster than traditional injection molding in this bussines.

Initially, FFF/FDM technology was used to produce initial prototypes at a low cost.

Later SLS was selected as the manufacturing solution for initial production , this technology offers a wide range of strong and functional materials and is best suited for medium volume production.

The use of 3D printing allowed the design to be modified with no die change costs and in a very short time ( 1-2 days!)

Furthermore, SLS technology significantly reduces production costs compared to traditional manufacturing methods. By eliminating the need for expensive tooling and reducing excess material,

SLS provides a more efficient production process. This efficiency not only accelerates product development time, but also increases the ability to customize products without substantial cost increases, providing a competitive advantage in both time and expense.

        Cum a reușit VW Europa să reducă costurile pentru șabloane și dispozitive de fixare ?

        Studiu de caz.

        Șabloanele și piesele de fixare sunt piese de lucru utilizate pentru a ajuta la poziționarea și asamblarea pieselor. În mod normal, acestea sunt prelucrate CNC la o toleranță ridicată.

        Nivelul de ajustare determină, de obicei, timpi de producție lungi și costuri ridicate, deoarece formele sunt adesea unice și dificil de prelucrat.

        Acest dispozitiv de protecție a roților (prima imagine) printat 3D, obținut anterior prin producție tradițională, pentru 800€ , acum printat 3D intern la 21€ per bucata. Timpul de dezvoltare a sculei s-a redus de la 56 la 10 zile.

        Acesta unealtă de geam (imaginea de jos) costa inițial 180€ per piesă pentru a fi realizat extern prin producție tradițională. Acum este printat 3D la doar 35€  Timpul de dezvoltare a trecut de la 8 la 6 zile.

        Un model poate fi printat peste noapte și testat pe linia de asamblare în ziua următoare. Feedback-ul operatorului poate fi introdus în procesul de proiectare până când se produce scula perfectă.

        Volkswagen Autoeuropa a adoptat aceste avantaje. Cu o producție anuală de 100.000 de mașini, aceste dispozitive de fixare printate 3D sunt utilizate zilnic pe linia de asamblare.

        Acest dispozitiv pentru insigna portbagajului a durat 35 de zile în timpul dezvoltării când a fost produsă prin producție tradițională externă și costa 400€. Cu imprimarea 3D, proiectul a fost finalizat în 4 zile, iar costul piesei s-a redus cu peste 90%.
